Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes conduct that is not permitted on myLegal. It supplements our Terms of Service. By using myLegal you agree to follow this policy.
1. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use myLegal to:
- Engage in illegal activity — anything that violates applicable law in your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction where the conduct occurs.
- Exploit minors — generate, request, store, or distribute any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits anyone under 18. This is never tolerated and will be reported to authorities as required by law.
- Harass or threaten — target any individual or group with harassment, hate speech, stalking, doxxing, threats of violence, or coordinated abuse.
- Bypass security — attempt to defeat authentication, authorization, rate limiting, abuse prevention, or other security controls, or access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access.
- Jailbreak or prompt-inject the AI to circumvent its safety guidelines, content policies, or professional-conduct constraints.
- Commit fraud — submit false information, impersonate another person or entity, or use the service to deceive others for financial gain.
- Infringe rights — violate intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contractual rights of others, including bulk-scraping content or trade secrets.
- Disrupt the service — launch denial-of-service, mass-automated, or excessive-load activity, or knowingly introduce malware or exploits.
- Practice law without a license — use myLegal's outputs to hold yourself out as a lawyer, or to provide legal advice to third parties for compensation, unless you are a licensed attorney in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction and have complied with all applicable rules of professional conduct.
2. Enforcement
We take a proportional approach to enforcement. Typical escalation is:
- Warning — we may notify you of a violation and ask you to stop.
- Suspension — we may temporarily suspend access to some or all features while we investigate or pending remediation.
- Termination — we may terminate your account for serious, repeated, or unresolved violations.
For severe violations (illegal content involving minors, active security attacks, imminent harm), we may skip warnings and suspend or terminate immediately, and we may preserve and disclose relevant records to law enforcement as required by law.
3. Reporting Abuse
If you see content or conduct that violates this policy, report it through the in-app chat. Please include links, account identifiers, or other details that help us investigate.
4. Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you can appeal through the in-app chat or, if your account is fully disabled, through the address on file for billing. We review appeals in good faith.
5. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time to address new types of abuse or legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
Legal information, not legal advice. myLegal provides general legal information and does not practice law. Using myLegal does not create an attorney-client relationship.
For complex or high-stakes matters, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
